Last Sabbath, Pastor Gordon Jones read from 2 Samuel 7:18-20. Pastor explained that genuine worship needs a genuine focus, not spectacular purpose. It changes our worship when we think about where you were and where you are now. David, in verse 18, realized where he should be. He asked God “Who am I that you bless our family this far and more, dynasty.” David tells God that he will make God look good, but God tells David that He will make David look good, lasting dynasty. Our greater plan is nothing compared to God’s sovereign plan! God is still in control. God does not depend on our blessings, God blesses us. He just “shows up” in ordinary places to do spectacular things!
